A route with a different endpoint

The two-day Colca Canyon tour from Puno ending in Arequipa combines transport and sightseeing. It does not return you to Puno. This is useful when the canyon belongs between your Lake Titicaca stay and your Arequipa visit, but unsuitable if you have left essential bags in Puno expecting to collect them the same evening.

First day: highland travel to Chivay

The operator advertises pickup from central Puno hotels between 6 and 6:15 AM. The road journey includes highland viewpoints and landscape stops around Lagunillas, Patahuasi, Pampa Cañahuas and the volcano viewpoint. These stops break up the travel, but much of the day remains a vehicle journey.

Arrival in Chivay is advertised around 1:30 PM, leaving time for lunch and check-in. Both accommodation and lunch are separate expenses. An optional afternoon visit to Chacapi hot springs also requires separate admission. Pick a Chivay hotel before travel and tell the provider where you are staying so the second morning’s pickup can be coordinated.

Second day: condor viewpoint and Arequipa

The canyon excursion starts early after breakfast. The described itinerary includes Cruz del Cóndor, Yanque, terrace viewpoints and Maca before returning towards Chivay for lunch. Condors are wild birds; the operator explicitly makes sightings dependent on conditions and season.

The onward drive finishes in Arequipa, with an estimated arrival between 4 and 4:30 PM and central-hotel transport advertised. Confirm the precise address coverage rather than assuming every property with an Arequipa postal address qualifies. Keep your first evening flexible in case the road journey takes longer.

What is included and what you arrange

The package lists shared tourist transport, central Puno hotel collection, bilingual guiding and assistance. Lunches, dinner, Chivay accommodation, the tourist ticket and hot-spring admission are not included. Breakfast arrangements should be checked with the hotel or provider rather than inferred from the itinerary’s mention of eating before departure.

Give the operator your bag count, hotel addresses and any mobility requirements. The listing describes moderate difficulty and does not recommend the trip for people with limited mobility. A vehicle-based tour can still include uneven stops and substantial time at altitude.

Alternatives and connections
